"Meet your true love" is what online dating sites keep telling you, but that is usually easier said than done. As a young woman who chased the "meet your true love" motto for many years, I know exactly what I'm talking about!

When a friend told me one day over a latte macchiato that she had discovered a new, more modern form of online dating, I was confused at first. "Sugar dating" was what she called it: attractive women meet rich men who are happy to spoil their date rotten.

"But," I stammered, "what about 'meet your true love'?" My friend laughed. "Meet your true love is so yesterday," she said, waving her Rolex-adorned hand dismissively. "Meet your wealthy, educated and generous sugar daddy with style and class, that's the new motto."

I was fascinated right away. A relationship with a classy man who is also willing to support me with gifts and other financial generosity? My longing for the "meet your true love" fantasy was gone in an instant! I mean, of course it's nice to imagine there is that one true love. But let's be honest: if that true love offers no financial security at all and the young, modern woman of today has to fight for every cent, the romance wears off quickly.

Meet Your True Love

On my very first sugar date, with Michael, an entrepreneur in his forties, the sparks flew. He looked almost like the poster boy for one of those "meet your true love" ads! And when he sent me home with a brand-new Louis Vuitton bag as a gift, I was a goner! "Meet your true love" had come true, because I truly do love designer bags!

And so the "meet your true love" longing has by now been replaced by a far more tangible reality: "Meet your true love, sugar dating style." Will it last forever? Well, time will tell. For me, the here and now with my generous millionaire by my side is in any case a real, tangible dream.
